I was wondering if anyone here has used one of the hub pullers that I've seen online. I have tried on several ocassions but with no sucess. I hate having to spend 2-3 bills for a u-joint. The pullers are not cheap but still better then the shop. Link to puller: http://www.bizrate.com/dodge-ram-4wd...b-puller/?sc=1

Thanks for any input.

i use hammer and chisel and have no problem getting them off, that just seems like a waste of 120$ if you ask me

some people have success with using sacrificial bolts in the rear of the bearing - unscrewing them a few rounds, and banging on them with a hammer. don't beat on those expensive 12 point bolts, it'll ruin the heads.

others have success in placing a socket and extension over those same bolts and using the power of the power steering to push them out.

heat on the knuckle is also effective at expanding the cavity and breaking the rust seal.

Those are all good sugestion and have been tried in the past to no avil. Perhaps the 1500 hubs are a bit smaller resulting in an easier seperation. They even give the guys at the repair shop a run for their money.

If you are simply replacing them, use a BFH, and beat 'em out of there. (watch the rotors....)

IMO ebay tools are junk.

I would spend a little extra and get a nice quality air hammer for a little extra $$$. You can use them for more than just hubs and some have lifetime warranties.
