So I assume that the previous owners swapped the internals of the NP241 in the case of a NP247?
Can anybody confirm if this is possible from dimensions?
Or maybe they mounted a complete NP247 but that might be too weak for a Cummins with NV4500?

Maybe V8city is still around and can answer my questions here

Greetings from Germany!
The 247 was an automatic t-case but may have had a "lock" function?

What does your shifter pattern do?

Is the CAD operational?

Does the rivet for the tag look original?

I took pictures of the transfer case and the tag.
You can also see some welding there.

Everything works fine and the shifter pattern is like original (2H,4H,N,4L).

What does "CAD" mean?

Central axle disconnect. It's on the front axle.

Tag is held in with a screw, isn't that supposed to be a rivet??

247 is ostensibly and all wheel drive t-case...... It also utilizes a three position shifter..... 4 hi, (awd), Neutral, and 4 lo.

If you have the ranges advertised on your shifter, then your t-case just has the wrong tag on it.

You are probably right - it has just the wrong tag on it. Sometimes it is that simple

The CAD works but I will soon exchange it with a PosiLok because the previous owner messed up the hoses of the system.
At the moment you always have to manually connect two hoses together to activate the front axle (he wanted to use 4LOW without 4WD).

Thank you guys for the fast replies and all the information.
Have a great week!

I think most of those hoses are still available from LMC truck, and other sources....

I recently changed all the fluids on this truck and I could barely get 1.7 liters (57oz) of ATF+4 into the transfer case.
According to the official documentation, the NV241 (non HD) should take 2.7 liters (91oz).
In my opinion this is more than a standard deviation of manufacturing tolerances.

Do you guys have the same experiences with the fill quantity of the NV241?

It probably just didn't drain completely empty. Also, there is a pump, and some lines in there. Fill it till it runs back out of the fill hole, close it up, go for a drive, recheck fluid level.
