Default OEM Mirrors

My stock manual mirrors flap in the wind like Marylin Monroe's famous white dress. If I get above 30 MPH the things fold straight in and I can see the passenger seat in my driver side mirror. I was wondering if anyone had any fixes for it, short of welding them into place. I would like to be able to adjust them or move them when need. I've tried everything I know.

I can get two brand new ones off amazon for about $40. But will they not just do the same thing eventually? Anyone ever buy from that company K Source?

I think the 'tensioners' that hold the mirrors in place at the pivot, are basically just brackets, that are held in place by a few bolts..... Might wanna just take the mirrors off the truck, and have a look, might be an easy fix.

Yeah, I've taken the mirrors off and tightened the bolts. I've put locktite and even super glue in there to hold it more steady. I've even wrapped the mirror arm in different materials and tightened the bolts on top of it to give the bolts and bracket more to hold on to, but as soon as I get past 40 they flop in. I'm wondering if I should just JB weld it and forget it. I just won't be able to fold them in if need.

They are just cheap potmetal.... wonder if the threads are stripped? Might try filling the bolt holes with something, and then drilling/re-tapping?

yeah it is cheap pot metal for sure. The threads aren't stripped because it tightens down and the bolts stop. I made sure not to strip them. There must be some sort of gripping material maybe rubber that grabs the mirror arm and holds on.

Is there enough room you could just put some rubber hose around the 'pipe'?

I don't guess I thought about that. I guess I could try to get some hose pipe or something that would fit snug on there. Good idea! I appreciate it!
