Default 95 Ram 3500 Slow to Start

I have read several threads regarding this but nothing really points to my current issue.

Here we go...This is the what I have and am dealing with.

I have a '95 Ram 3500 Dually 5.9L [Gas] Manual Trans. The truck runs great, shifts great, cold a/c, no engine vibration.....nada.

The only problem is it takes a few seconds of the engine turning for it to start. It has a new battery and cables. I did a tune up, plugs, wires, coil, rotor and no change. After I did the tune up it started right up only one time. After that it went back to doing the same thing.

I did an OBD code check with the ignition on/off, on/off method and got code 32. The EGR checks out good with a vacuum gauge and the connections all have power as they should.

any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Long crank times? All the time, or, only after it has sat for a while? have you checked fuel pressure?

all the time. I haven't checked the fuel pressure.

You know, now that i think of it; the day I did the tune up, my brother revved the engine quite a bit and then asked me to turn the truck off then try again and it turned on almost instantly after I turned the key.

I gotta look up the DIY for fuel pressure check.

Need a gauge. Should be able to beg/borrow/rent/buy one from the local parts store.

Should be a schraeder valve (lot like a tire air valve, just bigger...) on the drivers side fuel rail, that the gauge screws on to.

i can't seem to find the correct PSI in the Haynes manual.

I read in another thread that it should be 45 PSI +/- 5

does that sound about right?

I think the 94-95 trucks were lower? Around 40 or so at idle? Not entirely sure....

I'm still curious about the fuel pressure though.

throw some 10w30 sythetic in there and see if that helps it, sounds crazy i know, but i had a engine do that once when it had the wrong weight in it. only reason i suggested it is cuz you have changed all your ignition parts.
