Clicking from front end.
Is it a rattle? Or a buzz? For a rattle, look at the heat shields around the engine mounts. If its a buzz, check the heatshield on the cat. Also look at the dust shields on the front.... provided they haven't rusted completely away...
nah mine for sure is a rattle. don't really hear it until i get about 25-30 going both ways.
Put it in 4 wheel drive, 4 low and back up or go forward at low speed. Also do this under turning conditions to give the wheel joint (u joint) a lot of stress/torque. This should cause noise if the wheel joint is bad.
To check the wheel bearing, you can jack the front and spin the wheel and listen for a clicking sound in the wheel itself. You can also take the truck on the highway and listen for the same noise at speeds around 55-60 MPH. Make sure your not in 4 wheel drive while doing this

I have replaced my drivers side U Joint twice in 3 years, once when I did the wheel bearing and again yesterday. I had a light clicking sound that increased in volume as I increased in speed.
