Default Freon blow out with pictures

I have freon blowing out of this piece on the ac compressor when I turn the a/c on. What is this piece? It only started doing it after I added more freon to the system.

Blow off valve. It vents excess pressure on the high side of the compressor. Check system pressure, my guess is, its overfilled.

Thanks "HeyYou", all I have is the cheap gauge that came with the can of freon. If it is overfilled how would I take some out?

You could wait a couple of days and see if it leaks down on its own, however you may want to get someone with decent gauges to check it and reclaim the refrigerant if its overcharged. Not sure of the laws in your area but not supposed to vent refrigerant nowadays.

What was the problem that you added Freon?

Thanks Sprntpshr, the air wasnt blowing out to cold so I thought it needed more freon. I think I may just take it to someone who knows what they are doing instead of me trying to do it on my own. I dont want to do anymore damage then I may have already done.
