Default sound system

i am buying a kenwood hd radio head unit and am looking for speakers to go with it. apparently the front door speaker recesses for the 6x9's are very shallow. crutchfield only shows to speaker choices, and according to reviews their bass is not that great. i wanted some added bass. what 6x9's is everyone using?

what about 5 1/4's for the rear? whats everyone using?

If I couldn't put the speakers I wanted in the doors, I would put a 'bass choke' on those speakers, and try to compensate with better rear speakers.

What size speakers are in the various locations stock????

The front are 6x9's and I believe the rear are 6's. - just had some sony xplod speakers in mine with the bass turned down. If you want good bass you will have to get a sub system, otherwise it won't sound good at all. I got two 12" kenwoods from crutchfield and they sound awesome in my dodge.

My HU: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036FNLWA

My Fronts: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015VY478

My Rears: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001P85IVM

My Subs: http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-P-W120...7996792&sr=8-2

Link for the sub box dosn't exist but it was $95 ebay box. I had no probs installing speakers. When I was putting in HU, it would power up but no sound, so I double checked both wiring harness diagrams, and was stumped. I ordered the harness and HU bracket from crutchfield so I called them up (excellent customer service btw) and it turned out that I had the Infinity system from the factory w/o evening knowing it. He told me to splice the blue/white wire on the radio harness to the blue wire on the truck harness. Which was weird because the diagram for the harness said power antenna which nobody has, but it turned out to be the wire that told the Infinity amp to turn on. Before I had the subs, the truck had OK bass, but it wasn't enough for me. Upgrading subs soon to 2 12in alpine type R's with some kinda 1000w amp. If you want pics, just ask.

It sure bumps the country music

- What is a 'Bass Choke'?

- 6x9's front, 5.25's rear

- Unfortunately 5.25 rears really aren't meant for bass. 6x9's aren't much for it either because of their oval shape, however I believe they make brackets for the front speaker locations so you can convert them to 6 1/2's which are circular and therefore pack a bit more punch. 5.25's are circular as well but their limited size prevents them from givin' the bump people desire.

base choke is a filter, that prevents some of the lower frequency's to getting to the speakers. They come in various flavors, and help save the speakers from trying to put out bass they weren't designed to accommodate.

OHHH ok, I've never heard of ona those. Most aftermarket head units have a low pass filter built in that does the same thing, you can even adjust the hrz.

EDIT: Yay, 100 posts!

For subs I got 2 10" Kicker C10, I got mine from crutchfield when they were buy one get one free so $100 for two. (norm $100 each) and for a sub box I got this on ebay

$99. They also make a Forward fire, and both in 12" too. If you have people riding in the backseat then I don't recommend the Down fire it takes up a lot of the leg room.
