My tranny seems to drive FINE. If I gun it though (like to pass someone on a 2 lane highway), sometimes it will redline and not shift without letting off the gas. Additionally, the shifter will only go into "D" and "2" - it won't go into "1".

Should I sell it/ let the tranny die, or should I take it into a shop to have the bands adjusted and stuff? I hate to spend 500 bucks on that just to replace the tranny in 3 months? any takers?

Sounds like the shifter, or, the indicator is out of adjustment.... both easy fixes.

For the holding the gear at large throttle openings, probably the pressure sensor is doing its usual bit, and goofing up. If it only does it when you step hard on the gas, don't worry about, just don't step that hard.

dude has a lift.. i betcha he needs to adjust his linkage..
