Default Suspension Question.

Hey guys, so I've combed through the forum, and gotten a lot of information on the subject, but before I go out and buy the parts I just want to be sure since money isn't something to waste.

I have a 97 1500, 4x4 5.2l. I want to lift it about 3-4" cheap. So I've been thinking about throwing 2500 leaf springs and front coils under it. Now from what I've seen by eye, the 2500's sit pretty level to begin with. And I do have all the tools and equipment to do any fab work if needed. Such as if the front were say and inch lower, I could make a spacer.

But providing I find the 2500 rear springs that are 2.5" wide, would this work out with no major problems?

And sorry to bring up an old topic, but as I said I just want to be sure.

Any and all input appreciated, thanks!

The 3/4 tons have about the same rake as their half ton counterparts, so, yeah, you will probably end up needing a spacer in front as well.

Good luck finding a light duty 3/4 ton...... I believe they were only made in 94-95.

I am not an expert on the 2nd gens, but I have helped my buddy lift his, any lift for these 2 gen trucks over 3 inches ( not positive) come with new longer lower control arms as the higher the lift the more the front axle wants to swing to the rear of the fender as well as tilt the front axle, the longer arms keep it in the center of your fender where it sits now and they correct your caster angle, there is an "eccentric" on the arms where you can adjust them I just don't know how much lift is too much before you get out of the adjustment range of the stock arms.....but 4 inches would definatly be too much

nobody here has acces to a parts shop, I think there should be different sizes of coil springs, leafs, balljoints etc that can work even if they were not built for our trucks

Sorry, I didn't post the point I was trying to make....I don't think there is a way to cheaply lift the truck 3 to 4 inches, a good quality lift kit would be the only way, under that much lift you can go with front coil spacers and rear lift blocks or add-a-leafs,somewhere in the 2 to 2-1/2 range would be fairly cheap, I have just ordered this stuff myself from ebay, $65 for 2" front coil spacers, and rear I am going to get a 5" lift block to replace the factory 3" or I will get a 2" add-a-leaf....havent decided yet.

Go with aal, it'll help with payload as well as lifting it.
