What year was the donor truck?
You should get third gear as well....... if you don't, there is more than a solenoid problem...... might need to take it somewhere to have it diagnosed......

If your not getting third gear, that means that the piston seals on the front clutch are leaking and not holding pressure, and you can't get OD without 3rd,because it's a split gear range.
You can pull the valvebody down and air test the trans thru the ports that the valvebody uses. You can actuate the servos and the front and rear clutch pistons to make sure everything works and is holding pressure.
I can give you a definition of ports to test if you would like.
