Default laundry list of problems.....

well guys, im having a couple issues. first of all, i used my 4wd yesterday backing up my camper so i wouldnt chew up my lawn.

after that my 4wd light is staying on, i know what the problem is, just gotta save for a posi lock!

this morning when i backed out of my driveway i felt something weird with my truck, but shrugged it off thinking i ran over one of the kids toys.

well when i came to the stop sign my truck shuddered, almost as if i had mud tires, but more harsh. got out of the truck and looked, but saw nothing.

all of a sudden i have this squeek, that wont go away unless the truck is at a stand still. acceleration and deceleration and cruising there is no change to the pitch or frequency of the squeek. on my lunch break i came home and jacked up the truck to check the wheel bearings, and they both checked out fine(knew they would cause they are both less than a year old).

so im stumped, could it be the t-case, or the front axle? transmission has less than 20k on it and is shifting fine. kinda getting aggrivated cause the squeek is very annoying. its loud enough to hear over my exhaust, which is a punched out cat leading into 3" pipe to a flowmaster 10 series to 3" tail pipes, so its pretty damn loud!

any help is appreciated! id like to get this fixed asap, cause inspection is coming up soon! thanks guys!

Might be your front axle staying engaged that is causing some of it. The squeak is an interesting one though...... the fact that it doesn't change with speed, or power applied, is gonna make it fun to find. Of course, it may also be related to the front axle......

If you can, put the truck up on four jackstands, and then run is slowly, in gear, and see if you can figger out where the noise is coming from.

if i had 4 jack stands id do that, but i only have 2, gotta find the extra cash to get some more.

it seems as though its coming from the drivers side front, and i just had a new axle joint put in a couple months ago.

i did the work myself except for having the old joint pressed out and the new one pressed in.

i noticed when i picked up the shaft from the shop that one side was really loose but the other was harder to bend. could this be the issue, or at least part of it?

im gonna try some silicone spray first to see if that eases the squeak a bit, or completely. if so ill just replace the belt, cause the tensioner seems fine.

If the belt looks ok, take it off, clean it, and also clean out the pulleys. See if that doesn't fix it.

the belt looks like crap! its very discolored, and shiny compared to a fresh belt.
