Default On/Off 3 times to see CEL codes.

Does this actually work for anyone else? I cant ever get it to work on my truck, its a 99.

Keep hearing people talk about it...On, off, on, off, on - and codes should show in digital mileage window.

That's how its supposed to work, but, as you noticed, seems rather hit or miss whether it does or not.... rumor has it, its the 2000 model year and later that it actually works one.... No clue just what the truth of the matter is.

it might be 00 and 01 only ?? not sure.
it works on my 01.

ON means where all the dash lights are on.
OFF means one click back where the dash lights are off.
hold each position for about 1 full second.

codes will flash in the odometer, then ends up with p-done.

on off on off on off on w/o starting the engine.. ya missed one!! :-)

I've heard the 98 and previous use the dit-dot method too, but i've no way of testing this though.. but it works like the old way of jumpering the fuse.. count the flashes with the long flash in between separating them .

It works on my 2000 ram and my dads 2002 durango. I insert the key then turn the key 2 positions then back 2, forward 2, back 2, forward 2 and it displays the codes. When I turn it forward I wait for the mileage to pop up then turn it back 2.

It works on all years except 98 for some reason.

Worked for me today on my 95. Did it twice just to make sure I got the code right.

Any auto parts place can usually read your codes for free, if you can't get the "on off" trick to work. Don't pay a dealership to do it.
