5.9 troubles
just swapped a durango 5.9 into a 2001 dodge ram 2500 2wd work truck, tried to start it, nothing, after checking everything, i noticed i am getting no spark and no fuel, looked around the internet, found out to try to connect to the ecu or pcm i think y'all call it, got a link error code on my brand new code reader, after that the check engine light, fuel, and i think abs light came on, and the odo said no bus, help please would like to have this thin running by sunday, this is my dads work truck and he is not happy that it is taking so long any down time is lost money, any help would be appreciated.
original motor was a 5.9 and no i removed the ckp sensor, and reinstalled after i put the motor in then the transmission, and i am sure that there are no wires pinched i checked and double checked everything i was trying for a trouble free start up, fml lol
nope neither, number one thing i tried after i did'nt smell gas! not exactly my first rodeo but definatley my first dodge and so far its kicking my a$$. i was reading, i mean the info off the internet you have to take with a grain of salt, but it says that the ecu is bad but it worked before what could cause the ecu to just go bad?
Dodge tends to do things a bit bass ackwards..... Given the errors you are getting, and the lack of results when you turn the key, what I think is happening is, the PCM sees a wrong signal on one of its 'critical' sensors. (cam, and crank being top o' the list) When it fails to get the proper cues, it will trip the ASD relay, which turns off damn near everything. (including the PCM itself....) Now, sometimes, the ASD relay itself will fail.... to test that theory, just swap it with the horn relay, or some such. Relays are in the PDC, right behind the battery.
Yeah, I might provide too much information on occasion..... but, I don't know how experienced anyone is, or how familiar they are with the dodges, so, I tend to over explain things..... I would rather tell you something you already know, than not tell you something you don't know.

just went out swapped the relay, horn works with the asd relay in it, and it still showed up no bus in the odo display, and the other 3 things the only one that correlates is the check engine light the low fuel is cause there is no fuel, and the other is cause i removed the windshield washer fluid bottle hence the other light i mistook for the abs light
No worries.
Personally, I think the dodge engineers really went overboard on the electrical, it seems to be unnecessarily complicated. But then, automotive engineers hate mechanics anyway, right?
