Default Any of you Ram guys seen this before?

Hey guys... No, it's not another crew cab second gen, but I found a Ram 2500 with a strange gauge cluster. Check it out for yourselves: http://modules05.dealercarsearch.com...spx?id=1078432 . Before I bought my Dak, I did test drive an 00 or 01 1500 Sport and was set on it til the guy said it got 10 mpg... Anyways, that had a normal cluster with RPM's. So why would this only have a large fuel gauge? Do they really burn gas THAT fast? Just curious, I'm always looking for weird/cool trucks and stuff.

That's one of the gauge options for the ram. I used to have that same cluster in mine before I changed it out to one with rpm's.

The tach became standard in all trim levels in 2000. I think it's a plug and play swap out, just don't know how the odometer would work out.

As far as I know it is a plug and play with everything working, but mine is a 98 work special. Just the odometer mileage is locked to the cluster.

Yeah I would hate not having a tach. You can only estimate where you're at with RPM's by sound, you can't tell for sure. I've just never seen that in any truck before.

That wasn't to represent the fuel consumption. I have a 98 5 speed fleet truck and from what I understand the base or fleet trucks got this cluster instead of the on with a tach.

yep mine looked like that until i bought a gauge cluster with a tach out of a durango, just plug and play.

just find a vehicle with mileage similar to yours, cause as a mod pointed out when i swapped mine, its illegal in some parts of the country, and is considered a form of fraud!

You can swap them it has to be changed at a dealer or clearly marked on the title to be legal.
