Default Another CEL Thread. Code 34???

I've done some searching on here and couldn't quite find what I'm looking for.
Check engine light came on and I did the key trick to find the Code 34. "Open or shorted condition detected in the speed control vacuum or vent solenoid circuit"
I checked all my vacuum lines and can't see any problems? I'm assuming this has to do with my cruise control? Truck runs fine.. I'm going to try and find a diagnostic tool to run on it and see if I can get a more conclusive answer. If anyone has had this problem or knows anything about this issue please feel free to give your advice!!! Thanks

Check the vacuum line for the cruise control, runs along the front of the engine, and on mine, connects to the throttle body in the front. Another point of failure for these is the servo itself. It sits under the battery, so, if the battery pisses acid on it.... instaleak.

Does your cruise work??

Yeah my cruise control works fine. That's why I'm so puzzled?? And I think I'll unhook my battery and remove the tray and see if I can clean the servo up a bit... But unhooking my battery will reset the cel code and I guess id have to wait to see if the cel comes on again.....

That IS bizarre.... Yeah, do it up, see what happens. Wonder if we are misinterpreting the code? If the light comes back on, pay a visit to your local auto parts store, and have them read the codes. See what they think the PCM has to say.

Edit: Had the truck scanned. The only code that popped up was "P0441 Evaporative emission control system, Incorrect Purge Flow." I was told my charcoal canister may be bad. Or the hose that goes to it may be corroded and dry rotted. I will check this out now. And see if I can tape up the hose if there is any breaks/cracks in it. Anyone else had this problem?

Taping the hose is not going to last very long, replace it.

I went ahead and had a look at the charcoal canister, I think its shot.. I'm not sure if its supposed to have charcoal particles falling out of it.. Also I cleaned the connectors off the canister purge control solenoid. And took off the U shaped hose that's connected to the charcoal box it and taped it up pretty good because the hose is wasted.. Ill replace it soon. I'll be looking for a new charcoal canister. Hope the CEL doesn't come on again.. Wish me luck

Replace all the hoses and the purge solenoid, most likely the charcoal is throughout the system.
