with any little thing I tow. Is the front test port on the trans a good place for my temp senstor. I just added a 1/2 quart of atf last night . It was a bit low. My trans and motor were both running hotter than I liked, my motor was hitting 230 towing a little 16 foot skiff for a buddy. I do have a 180 t stat and 2x e- fans.

 

NOPE. Put it in the pan, feed line or return line. That test port gets oil only in certain gears and will give you false readings.

 

It shouldn't do that...... (really? Why thank you mr. obvious......)

How old is your radiator? Flushed it out in recent memory? What about the water pump?

I don't think the test port always has fluid flowing thru it either. Best bet is to monitor temp on the output line to the trans cooler. That tells you how hot things are where it counts....

My entire cooling system has less than about 3 thousand miles on it. Water pump rad hoses and radiator, flushed the heater core this winter also. Someone on this board said it was a good spot.

You're not running an under drive pulley while towing are you?

What are the cfm ratings on your fans, are you sure they are both working?

 

I have the one my link, works great and easy to install. Ten dollars more for pretty blue color doesn't seem worth it to me.

 

both fans work fine 2500 cfm x 2 . Couldn't I just go to a hardware store and piece one together, thats what I did for my coolant temp sensor. No underdrives for me thank you.

 

Go ahead, I tried that and it would have been more than $34 , the sensor is too far away from the fluid by the time you put all the adapters together and the one in my link has no restriction, like it says on the site. That site tells you the best place to install it also.
