The stock gauge in my 96 said mine was/is overheating. I temporarily hooked up a second gauge from a friends race car and found that it was not overheating but a bum gauge. Just a thought, Shaun
Pressure test went well. Held 16ish psi with no drop. Tried to test cap. As soon as it pumped past the 13psi area it would drop below 10. Should be able to hold 16. Trying a new cap today that actually holds what it should. I'll post back after I drive a bit.
Make sure there is a good air path for the radiator, fins aren't folder over, no crap stuck between the condensor, and rad. You already think you have all the air out... after a nice long drive, I would check again, just for giggles. VW suggests IAT sensor... it's cheap, can't hurt..... Possible blockage IN the radiator, you may still get good flow thru it, but, there may not be enough working surface area to keep the truck cool.
No blockages at all. Just tried bleeding any air out and got nothing. Ran good at idle during the process but once I put a load on it (test drive) the temp shot up.
