Default exhaust pipe

1999, 5.2, 4x4. The pipe I've seen leaving the cat is a 2.5 inch, but is that inner or outer diameter? looking to replace stock muffler.

Also, any downside to dumping infront of rear tire?

All the exhaust stuff is OD. If you have a 2.5" pipe, Any 2.5" muffler or cat will fit it. They don't typically mess with ID on pipe that large on a vehicle.

Exhaust tubing is OD, exhaust components are ID, so cats and mufflers slip right on.

Bitchin. Think I'm just gonna get a cherry bomb glasspack to replace stock muffler, and get a K&N drop in filter. Hope to see some increase.

I had a K&N drop in and it made such a change (actually none) I gave it away.

There is really little restriction from the cat - back, you will notice more of a gain if you ditch those stock manifolds.
