Default Dana 80 problem

well i have a 2001 ram 2500 V10 with a Dana 80 in the rear with 4:10 Gears and a locker. I traded my truck for this truck knowing that it had broken spider gears. I thought that this would be an easy fix but when is started to look for spider gear sets i found that i would cost $900 for just the spider gears and $1100 for a new axle. my question is, is there another truck that i can take the spider gears out of and use in my truck or is a detroit locker an option? how hard is it to install one of those.

Locker is definitely an option. Installation can be a drag though. If you haven't done one before, have someone that has SUCCESSFULLY done installs help you, or, pay someone else that knows how to do it.

Any other Dana 80 of approximately the same year should make a great parts donor.

That said, HERE is a spider gear set for 125.00.....

That rebuild kit is for the factory limited slip. (clutches and such) So far as I know, Dodge never offered a real locker for our trucks. (I think we are just having a confusion of terms here.)

I noticed also that for about 5 bucks LESS, you could get a lockrite, that replaces the spiders/clutches/etc..... Don't know if that one will go into the factory LSD case though.

Ive got a 4.11 LSD out of 99 PSD, (dana 80). I replaced it with a True Trac. If anything out of that diff will work for you let me know, its just sitting around here.
