Default Track Bar -

98 dodge ram 2500 4x4 5.9l
I changed the track bar w/o initially putting the truck on jack stands. In order to complete installation I had to jack the drivers side up to get the knuckle in the hole, now the steering wheel is way off center. is there a easy fix for this or just have the alignment shop do it?
btw the track bar was not too horribly worn

Does the truck sit higher in front than it should?

If it sits at the right height, you can just turn a sleeve on the drag link to adjust your steering wheel. Soak it with chemicals a for a couple days before ya try it though.

yeah it sits at the right height, I think I am going to do the steering box, then take it in for alignment because i am sure I will need one after the box is replaced.

I have seen a few people call the Tie Rod (complete assembly) a track bar on these forums...

no I called it correctly, maybe i have misinterpreted the steering being off center due to the slop in the box and the track bar actually was more worn then I originally assessed - regardless I have a path forward so its all good, I was just curious if anyone else had seen this before.

I just did my track bar the other day. Same deal, on the ground, but had to play with the jacks and a BFH to get knuckle seated. The steering wheel was way off afterwards too, but it had ALOT of play to begin with. Had it aligned at the shop and the steering is 100% better.
