Well I've tried for hours to get this ball joint off. I have to replace the upper ball joint for my state inspection and it just wont pop off. Ive beat the pickle fork in for what seems all the way or almost all the way and it didnt even budge. I dont no what to do.

 

If your trying to separate the U-joints and cant find a stronger friend or bigger hammer. If your trying to press out the ball joints, 1 make sure you are pressing the RIGHT WAY. 2 rent a ball joint press 3 get an impact wrench in there if you can

 

the best way to do that is using a balljoint press-estractor

 

where am i putting the impact? I feel I'm pretty strong so I doubt thats it.

Mine were stuck pretty good and didn't come out until I went and got a ball joint press. One literally exploded and came out in pieces. Thats how much force the press exerts.

 

Use a bigger hammer.

 

always is less expensive to buy the necessary tools and do it yourself. but something that isn't available in the store is patience, and that is the best tool to get the job done

Check if the ball joint has a little tack weld on it, sometimes they do (but it should break anyway). Use a longer breaker bar or add a pipe to your breaker bar.
