Yea mine is felpro, its like some thin fragile kind of material i dunno, my friend said you need some kinda gasket like RTV with it in combo. It said that on the advance auto parts computer also.

I just watched a video on how to use the puller seems really easy. However the video said i need a installer also and the picture above doesnt look like it has an installer.. I hope advance auto doesnt want tons of money to rent it.

This is the video for the installer, is this the correct way to reinstall the balencer ? Im thinking of trying to rent a installer with a ball bearing washer thingy instead of just a huge washerl ike he used. But i just wanna make sure this tool isnt going to screw up my threads or something.

You dont need an installer, put the balancer on lined up with the slot and take a rubber mallet and tap around until you can thread the bolt in some then tighten it down.(some oil will help)

And you shouldnt have to take out the radiator to put an impact on the crank bolt, both my impact guns would fit and its the easier way to get it off

I also put rtv and the gasket just to make sure it wasnt going to leak, it wont hurt nothing, just help

Also, i dont want to have to take the oil pan off and all that junk. What should i do with the lips that stick out when the timing cover is about to go back on ? Should i put some rtv on the old gasket to seal it up ?

Also you sure about using the bolt to push the balencer back on ? I heared thats what strips the threads and possibly stretches the bolt

If the crank snout is nice and clean, and you put a bit of oil on it, the bolt should draw it in with no problems. (It isn't supposed to be an interference fit...... tight, but, not binding.) Use the bolt. If it seems reluctant, start over again.

Don't have to drop the oil pan, just take out the two bolts that go thru the pan, into the timing cover. A bit of RTV in the corners where block/cover/pan come together would be a good idea. Put the cover in place, and thread ALL of the bolts into it. (don't put on the pump yet, but, just thread the bolts in a bit.) Run the pan bolts in snug, but not tight, and then tighten the lower bolts on the cover to block side. Then tighten the oil pan bolts to spec. Take out the water pump bolts again, and put the pump on.

Its a pretty big bolt, you should know if its not going in right, which is what will strip it

And yeah add rtv to help the cover seal with the pan, also when you have the cover off and cleaning up the gasket surfaces, put a rag between the block and pan to keep debris from getting in the pan

Just did E-fan, timing chain and sprockets, water pump, plenum, all that good stuff. Tons of pics here if you wanna see what your getting into

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...0-sport-7.html

BTW when doing timing chain have a spare Oil Pan Gasket on hand that way if you do F it up pulling those two bolts you have it ready to install. If you don't need it then awesome return it. If you do you just saved yourself a trip to the auto store. I rented the Harmonic balanced Puller, needed it for sure (the one with tons of diff size bolts) Didnt need to to put on sliped it on enough to get bolt on the impacted it on. Done and Done

Yea i made a new thread cause i didnt want to ressurect this one. Seems when i posted my pics and stuff no one cared, probably cause my threads are old and long.

Thanks for the compliment tho, and yea that balencer was like SOOO easy to take off and on with the right tool. It was fun, and a great learning experience for me. I couldnt have done this without my friend and his tools. He had everything imaginable.. $30k worth of tools... well cept the balencer installer which i rented... He's a really great guy man.. altho i can tell you after working on it for 5 hours we were tired... and hurting..
