Default Pick an engine for me.

I spun a bearing and had a nasty knock so the engine must be pulled and rebuilt. I was thinking of just replacing it with a new one from a reputable engine builder. I'd like to get something with more HP yet reliable so I'm open for suggestions.
What would you get with a $6000.00 buget

how'd you spin the bearing? revving a little too hard?

5.7 is not an easy change over. I'd say rebuild the 318 as is. Or you could rebuild a JY 360 block for more power, or stroke that 318 to 390ci for a big boost and a grin.

Summit sells 408 crate engines ready to drop in for a little less than 6...the little cabs left over would be good for whatever goodies you need for it..Idk how the older pcm would work with that though.

this is a good idea but then if the computer dosnt match up that will be even more money, but hell, why not give it a look, why not look at a engine that dosnt have any problems. cause you never know if the engine you would be rebuilding dosnt work and would need more work after bein put back together

Yeah, and all that you would have to do is drop it in and plug it in!! Difficulty level depends on the pcm and whether orvnot it plugs in or not.

You can spend 365 on a custom tune from HemiFever for that. I think he is about the only one that does 'em for the pre-98 trucks.
