winch mounting problem?

Smile winch mounting problem?

hello everybody im new here. i just got my first dodge 4x4 its a 2001 ram 1500 reg cab offroad sport. i am wanting to add a winch to her and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what mounting systems work well and are fairly inexspensive? thanks

Well, it's a winch mount, so, most certainly NOT something you want to cheap out on. (watching your winch go flying thru the air while trying to get your truck un-stuck is REALLY depressing......)

There are winch mount bumpers, but, them fellers can get expensive......

My thoughts on this..... since you don't really NEED to have that heavy-*** winch hanging off the front end 100% of the time.... get a front receiver mount...... and a remote mount for the winch, that plugs into the receiver..... That way, when you think you might need it, put it in there. If you DON'T think it is going to be necessary, leave it at home. If you are heading off somewhere for a trip, and want to have it with you, toss it in the bed.

That's a good way to go. If you do I would suggest running another set of wires to the rear. A lot of times it's easier to get unstuck pulling back the direction you came, instead of pulling yourself in worse.
