Hypertech vs. SCT
So I've been looking into getting a tuner. I'm sure some of y'all have seen some of my posts about fuel economy. I realize these aint the trucks to be driving if you need good mpg, but I need a truck, and drive a lot. I've been looking for a tuner to get a little better mpg. I've heard about people getting good gains with the hypertech max energy and the econ model. I've heard the SCT is a lot more for power. Mainly im looking for a fuel economy boost. Anyone have any thoughts?
I know most forum members support SCT and I've emailed Sean. I've been leaning toward him and I'll probably go through him I was just wondering if I'd get better mileage from the hypertech, some people say it was better in the economy area
I would say SCT too, even though I dont have one...but what is your driving style? Maybe adjust it to help save a little fuel. I am sure Sean will even tell you that fuel mileage gains are gonna greatly depend on how you drive.
my experiance. 01 off road 5.9. Had been death flashed. Got a SCT. Sean loaded me 3 tunes. 87,89.93 towing. I pull a 30ft 6500lb dry weight camper. Running around town I was getting 10mpg. Pulling I was getting 8-10mpg. Loaded the tuner and my fuel milage went to 13 just driving and went to pretty well a solid 10mpg pulling my camper. The power I gained was excellent, and Sean will work with you, really a good guy.

i had hypertech with my 97. but it dont come close to the sct after i switched also your mpgs will stay the same from hypertech or sct. as long as you can keep your foot out of it and use 87 tune on sct. even with the 93 with hypertech my truck with 87 on sct would kill hypertechs 93! my mpgs went down when i got sct couldnt keep my foot out of it. but now that i just cruise with it my mpg are good 13 combined city/highway but i average 13-16 in city! all depends on how i drive and how many lights i get caught by! also i use 87 tune. with 93 i was getting 10-11 mpg city
