4x4 question
Hey is there any way to lock 4x4 with bypassing the actuator. I think i have a vacuume problem or my actuator went. I dont have the money for the posi lock sytem or a new actuator this week and i realy realy need 4x4 for thursday. The fork on the actuator looks good but it has a little side to side play. Can i get under it to lock it in 4x4?
Grab a friend, (one you TRUST.
) sit 'em in the truck, and have 'em start the engine. You crawl under the truck, and disconnect the vacuum lines leading to the CAD. There should be vacuum on the OUTBOARD line, when in 2wd. Make sure you are getting it. (just stick your finger over it, it will be obvious if you have vacuum.)
Have aforementioned friend put the truck in 4wd, (hi or lo, doesn't matter) and vacuum should now be on the INBOARD vacuum line at the cad. If vacuum doesn't switch, might need to replace the switch on the t-case. But, since you wanna go for the posilok anyway...... what you could do is, just run a vacuum line down to the cad, and hook it to the inboard port on the actuator..... so long as the engine is running, CAD would be locked. When you wanna hit the road, and head home, or whatever, just switch the vacuum line to the other side, so it will disengage the front axle.

One is towards the "in" side and the other is towards the"out"side. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure I given this link to you in the past.
