so here i sit wondering what happened. i think the front diff ran out of fluid and seized up, my 4wd hasnt been able to go in 4lo in quite some time now, and it worked fine this past winter.

heres what i have planned...

found a new axle and front driveshaft for 150. thinking about the posi lock too, anyone know where the cheapest place to get one is at?

this really sucks cause i was supposed to get my new motor this week to start my build.

yeah can be turned by hand, although the 4wd light is on, so it may just be that. regardless, i still want to get rid of the cad unit and get a posi lock.

Just double checking. About the posi lock, i'm not sure where. Never looked for one.

i'm also wondering if its anything other than the u-joint.

if cad/axle half is unlocked, then its normal to be able to turn the pinion.
you might want to pull the cover and check for carnage vs normal.

do a google search on PSL400. looks like your lucky day - $163 at amazon with limited qty/closeout

yeah i couldnt turn the yoke at all, so im thinkin something is up.... like i said in my 1st post, i found and axle and a new front driveshaft for 150. all from a 94, going in an 01. should still have the money to get my new motor too, so its looking good so far.

EDIT: just confirmed axle is good. apparently the cad is still engaged. i jacked up the drivers side front and spun the tire, and the yoke moved. thats a good thing, but i still think im gonna need a new yoke as the current one got beat up when the driveshaft came apart.
