Default Magnaflow Cat install

So I should be getting my the cat tomorrow, i am assuming that the pipes going into the front of the cat need to be welded, or can they just be clamped? and the same with the rear pipes? and has anyone had any problems with them not bolting right up?

If you need it welded up, just take it to a muffler shop once you have it all installed where you want it, and the should be able to do it up for ya for not too much money.

The rear pipe can just be clamped. No biggie. Some muffler cement wouldn't hurt to seal it up though.

Mine came in today but did not get to install it yet. A 2" pipe clamp fits perfectly on the driver side tube/catalytic converter joint. I will initially clamp mine and see how it does than weld it up later. It does not come with new exhaust donuts or bolts to attach to the manifolds so you may want to pick some new ones up before you start if your bolts are worn and to insure your donuts have a good seal when clamped. I know I will get them tomorrow to install tomorrow night.

The pipe behind the cat is 2.5" in case you didn't already know that.

Also, it arrived on the exact day promised by Discount Performance Exhaust

Well that good to hear, i was kinda unsure if they were a reliable source to order from since the price was so cheap compared to everywhere else. And yea if i dont have the hardware in the bolt bins ill be sure to get some bolts, and what do you mean by donuts exactly?

a seal of some sort between the manifolds and tubes. Maybe they don't even use them but I know that I have put them in on other vehicles to get a better seal.

I also got mine ordered from discount performance exhaust. I got it welded up yesterday and it made a huge difference compared to my clogged cat and old y-pipe. Truck runs so much better, and I got the ponies back.

I just came in from the garage and got the cat installed. My y pipe came apart in 3 pieces so it definitely needed replaced. The only fitment concern was putting the 02 sensor in the front bung. It looked like it was going to hit the transmission pan so I put it in the rear bung behind the cat. After everything was all bolted up it looks like it would have cleared. Oh yeah, no donuts required so I retract that statement from last night.

I clamped it to the old 2.5" exhaust that was on the truck for now but know that needs replaced in the future. I Took it for a little spin and besides being much quieter the hill coming up to my house seemed to be easier than when I came home earlier in the day. I am towing my 4Runner about 160 miles this weekend so I will be able to see the difference over 3 weeks ago on the same route carrying the same load.

Magnaflow is not marked anywhere on it . I did save about $80 from buying it through Discount Performance Exhaust compared to the local Autozone when you include the state tax.
