Crank pulley has absolutely zero influence on what rpm your engine is turning at what speed. None of that will change. Now, the accessories driven from that pulley will be turning slower that what they would have been with the stock pulley...... but, that's the whole idea behind the underdrive pulley......

Underdrive crank pulleys will create charging issues...I had one and had to pull it off...The OBDII PCM will throw a bitch fit if it's undercharged.

Spend your money on something else, mine is a paper weight now.

rpms the engine runs at do not change with a crank pulley only how fast the accessories turn at a given rpm.

Underdrive crank pulley only slows down the accessories so there is less drag on the front of the crank. Whatever drag you remove from the front of the crank, translates as power to the back of the crank to run the wheels.

QUICK PULLEY QUESTION:

I have a pulley, and i was told that if you have a 2001 5.9, you need to get a bolt on balancer, since the stock unit is a pressed on pulley/balancer combo.

Is there truth to this, or can i just bolt the pulley right up?

(I believe for a 5.2 you don't need to worry about anything because the engine is internally balanced).

I have had this pulley for a year and never installed it. i would like to install it this week, but have been getting different info about the balancer and a 2001 5.9 engine.

Pulley should just bolt right on..... It doesn't do anything to balance the motor, its just an accessory drive.... nothing really special about 'em. If it looks pretty much the same as the one that's on there now, toss it on. (probably need a shorter belt though.... Think I would make sure the pulley fits nice before spending the money on the belt, just to be safe.)
