Default Air conditioning not working after being charged

I recharged my air conditioning system and still have no a/c. What other tests can I do myself to determine what is wrong. I am leaning towards it being the a/c clutch. I have checked all relays and fuses and they all look and test good. Please help it is very hard on my dog in this heat!!!

Appealing to the dog lovers in the crowd? Probably not a bad plan.

Are you getting 12 volts to the compressor clutch? (engine running, a/c on.) If not:

Put a jumper in the low pressure cutout switch, (not sure if it is up by the radiator, or back by the receiver/dryer on the 98's..... one place or the other.) and see if the compressor runs.

IF you jump it out and it comes on it's still ow on 134a. Also was it vacumed down before it was recharged? YOu have to do a vacum on the A/C if all of the freon was gone. Had to rebuild the A/C in the Wifes Durango and still need to do My Ram, but hers had to be done first. Have to keep her happy so I can be happy.........LOL

My a/c hasn't been working in a while because I put the jumper cables on backwards and I guess fried the clutch. You can check to see if the clutch has I think 5 ohms, mine had zero. So I need to replace the clutch but it seems to me like I can only find clutches with compressors. I'm debating if I should go through the effort of getting a clutch from the salvage yard but then who knows if the compressor is bad too. But does your fuse for the a/c clutch relay pop whenever you turn on the a/c?
