Default 95 dodge ram 1500 white smoke????

Hey guys Im new to the site, and recently purchaseda 95 dodge ram 1500 5.9l 4x4 and im getting my license shortly but theres a couple problems with it that I need to fix. I had the oil pressure senor and a injection cleaning done because the gauge would bounce...that is fixed now but my question now is white blueish smoke is huffing from my tail pipes, and only when cold. I was told a few things it may be ....valve seal gasket, the pcv valve, the plenum gasket or it just needs to burn all the **** out from the injection cleaning? on ocasion it will tick very littlw when first started but goes away in seconds I dont know what do you guys think? Greatly appriciated on any advice. Nothing but good word from this site! So hopefully you guys can give me a answer.

Thanks guys for the help,
Mike

You think its just normal moisture in the exhaust causing it to smoke blueish white?

How often does the truck get driven? Moisture will accumulate in the exhaust, and when you fire it up, it gets boiled off. May also be some moisture in the gas, if it has sat for an appreciable length of time...... Minor puff of blue when you fire it up is more than likely valve seals. A fairly easy job, just time consuming. (expensive if you have to pay someone else to do it.)

Plenum is a fairly standard problem on these trucks, if yours hasn't been fixed, you should start saving your money to deal with it......

Use a PCV valve from the dealer ONLY. Its under ten bucks, but, has the advantage of actually having the correct flow rate.... not a claim the generic fellers from the parts store can always make. Changing it out wouldn't hurt a thing.

Hey!! Welcome to Dodge Forum! my truck ticks for a moment at start up as well, pretty common I think it is just the lifters pumping up. as for your exhaust smoke, could be any one or combination of the things you listed. my advice is to get your license and put some miles on it. note if you are using oil, coolant, or to much fuel. go from there. report back with your findings and we will see what we can do.

The truck doesnt get driven it sitting in my yard until i get my license and get it registered, but i start it atleast 3 times a week letting it run, and its smokes pretty bad, so should I do the plenum gasket, valve seals and pcv, i dont got that much money so how do I know which it is, or do I have to try one and see if it the problem, my dads friend thinks it just needs to burn out all the stuff from the injection cleaning, another said valve seals or pcv, and then the plenum I dont know which it is how can i narrow it down ?

Check the stickied plenum thread at the top of this forum for info on diagnosing that particular little bugabear......

If it sits most of the time, I wouldn't worry about any of it, aside from the plenum, until you start driving it every day. Then, if the behavior continues, address the problems.
