When he installed the distributor 180 out everthing within the distributor rotated with it includeing the rotor, which is keyed to fit on only one way.
So it rotated 180 out also.
The plug wire was only moved at the distributor not the spark plug.
When the rotor reaches what is now his new #1 tower on the distributor(the old #6) it is firing the #1 cylinder.

But, the cam sensor is going to be out of phase. So, the PCM will still be firing number 6 injector.

The cam sensor like the rotor can only be installed one way, so it too will rotate with the distributor.

Cam sensor is keyed to the distributor housing, as is the dist cap. So, with the rotor pointing 180 out of phase, due to the way the sensor works, (signal for 180 degrees, no signal for 180 degrees.) the PCM is going to be firing the injectors out of phase.

I am assuming (yeah, I know...) that the dist, and cap, are installed in the correct orientation, as he had to put the number one wire on the number six tower. If EVERYTHING were rotated, it would just put the number one tower at the back, instead of in front, where it is 'supposed' to be.

So if fuel sync is so bloody important on these engines, why is his running when it is off 180 degrees?? (theoretically.....)

*here, hand me another monkey wrench, the gears are still turning.*
