You need to get a build sheet to find out what the truck was supposed to be. If the truck was originally a 2500 the suspension will hold the loads, but the engine will not have a ton of power while hauling.

I think the trans would be fine provided you don't pull in OD. The 318 engine isn't a torque monster to begin with, and you aren't going to make more torque with it just because your loads are heavier. I'd definitely consider 4.10 or 4.56 gears to get you rolling.

The OP asked the same ? on another forum...I think he got a 1500 with 2500 doors or a 2500 somebody swapped a 318 into. You'd have thought he'd done a bit more research before throwing down the green, or...who knows.

The sticker under the hood says 5.2 liter.
5.2L = 318 Cubic Inches
Why do you think it's a 1500?

Because the 1996+ 2500s never came with a 318 5.2L from the factory. I have read that some 1994 and 1995 2500s had the option, though. Is it a 1994 or 1995 model year by chance?

A 1994-1995 LD or "light duty" 2500 would have the same axles as a 1500, therefore the same bolt patterns. I have managed to find a few pictures of a 1995 Ram 2500 with the same exact rims he has, although that doesn't prove much.

Drew

WTF is that huge picture you posted? Looks like a poorly digitized wheel. That, or the villain from Scream.

According to another forum...I believe he has a 95 LD2500.

Leave it to Dodge to build them like this... No seriously...the company that built Hemi station wagons and 4 door sedans back in the day, then claimed they never existed.

i think what the OP has to find a place to have the truck weighed and compare it to the gvwr. if there is at least 1600# difference between what your truck weighs and your gvwr then it may serve the purpose that it was bought for.

my 81 half tonne has 1800# difference between it empty with me in it and the gvwr
