2001 Ram...No A/C
As I stated in an earlier thread, the A/C in my truck doesn't work. The compressor has been bypassed with a shorter belt. Is it as simple as swapping out compressors, or could there be more to the problem..?? It isn't the end of the world with no A/C, as I have never had it before, but it would be nice to get things working that should be. The pulley on the existing compressor turns, but not sure how freely it should turn, and how smooth. Thanks for any help.
The outer ring the belt rides on should turn easily, and very smooth. The inner part should have a bit of resistance to turning, but, not a heck of a lot. Before spending money on parts though, I would try and do a bit of trouble shooting. First thing you are going to need is the correct belt though. Once that is on there, turn on the A/C, and see what happens. That will determine the next step.
