Default Bullet-proof OEM cat-back Recommendations?

Hi,

Been a while since I last posted and happy to say no issues until yesterday.

I have 2000 RAM 1500, 5.9, 4x4, quad. The stock muffler blew out and I would like to fix it.

I have gone back though the threads and looked over a lot of great recommendations for loud/performance/better gas mileage etc.

However, I am looking for stock: stock looking, stock sounding, stock setup, and so on.

The one thing I would like is best quality -- heavy duty, (stainless steel?). I want to install it and forget it (and definitely don't want to hear it).

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a muffler setup like this?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Mine is about to go also and am looking for the exact same thing. Hopefully there are a few decent options for this

Borla makes a lot of stainless stuff, they might have something for our trucks. Keep in mind, it isn't 'permanent'...... stainless still will eventually corrode, but, it lasts a hell of a lot longer than the aluminized stuff most muffler shops use.

No aftermarket muffler will be as quiet as the OEM, nobody wants them that soft, LOL. the stock piping should be all stainless as is, if its still in good condition, call up a dealership and get the p/n and price on a stocker and start surfing the web.

If you want to go aftermarket, Magnaflow makes catback systems are all stainless, and they make mufflers for SUVs that should be softer than their performance types. It'll probably have a bit of rumble, but not terrible. have to call and ask.

After seeing those prices I can live with the Flowmaster Force II.

I can't believe the OEM has held up 10 years in this MI weather

I think mine is still stock too.... Had to re-weld the pipe back to the rear of the cat, but, I think that was due to the previous owners red-neck repair after he gutted the cat. (but didn't fix the SERIOUSLY blown plenum....)

the factory stainless on my 87 must have been good stuff. Original is still on and leak free. Several clamps have disappeared though.

If you want it to sound as close to OEM as possible, get a super turbo muffler. I'm getting ready to swap my flowmaster 40's for a super turbo.
