P0420 after non-fouler trick and cat removed
about a month ago i went with a jegs y-pipe and did the non-fouler to the rear o2. me and my neighbor are starting on my plenum/tune-up tomorrow and wouldn't ya know it i get a CEL today LOL!
i searched for that code and of course it looks to be an o2 problem when people mess with/remove their cat. unless i overlooked it i didn't see anyone who got the CEL after the non-fouler trick.
should i ignore it until after the plenum/tune-up and reset it and see if it comes back (i will be replacing both o2's in the porcess) or should i be looking for something while tearing it down tomorrow?

The non-fouler shouldn't cause a CEL, but I've seen changes made to the exhaust cause a CEL and the non-fouler trick NOT work. Doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
Usually, removing the non-fouler and stuffing steel wool in it and putting it back on will get rid of the CEL problem...

I've heard of this, but not too common.
2 things you can try:
a 2nd non fouler with the bottom cut out and double stacked. Takes the O2 sensor even further out of the exhaust stream.

Makes the PCM think the cat is working VERY efficiently. I have had one for about 3 years, it works, and it's passed inspection the last 3 years.
