How do i ?
How do i find out what year rear end is in my RAM i got it a month ago i have a code off the top of the rear end i called DEALER he said that code isnt correct to determine the year of the rear end i have a 01 but 01 parts dont fit the brake set up
if 1500 look at where the brake lines attach to the wheel cylinders.
if the line is attached straight (90*) its an older model wheel cylinder.
if the line is attached with an angle toward the front, its likely the original 00/01 model.

this is why i ask there is a 1/2 gap at the top and meets flush at bottom both sides i was advised my rear backing plates are bent and a dealer wants 498 EA side OMG!!!!! just for the plate and local wrecking yards dont have any
Can you post a pic of the gap you are talking about?? Everything in your pic looks perfectly normal.....
For that kind of money, I would either try and bend them fellers back into shape, or do a rear disk conversion...... (the conversion would be cheaper than the plates from dodge.....)

That's not right. The drums are too big...... That isn't a bent backing plate, that is someone giving you the wrong drums. Do NOT drive it like that. You can blow apart the rear wheel cylinders, and instantly have NO brakes.
