IAC is Idle Air control. It's a stepper motor, that moves a valve in and out to regulate airflow when the throttle is closed. Mounts on the back of the throttle body, with two screws....

TPS is Throttle Position Sensor. PCM uses that feller to determine how hard you are stepping on the go-pedal. If it is lying, it can cause some rather interesting behavior. TPS is on the drivers side of the TB, right on the end of the throttle shaft.

To remove, up to three cables have to come off. (carefull with those.) Throttle cable, TV cable (if you have auto trans), and Cruise cable. (if you have cruise)

Three electrical connectors. IAC, TPS, and the MAP sensor. (manifold absolute pressure sensor. on the front of the throttle body.)

Four bolts.

I think it takes longer to get the air filter box off, than it does to get the throttle body off once the filter thing is out of the way......

I usually find it easier to remove the bracket with the cables still attached. Another 3 small screws/bolts. This way it doesn't mess up the TV cable adjustment.

Awesome. I'll get that off and cleaned. Airbox is off already.... From trying to get started with ether.

You guys are great. I'll do it and report back, hope its that simple. I think this truck is at the stage where I am going to keep having little things one after the other.

104k miles, tranny rebuilt 1k ago. Dash, glove box, cup holder, all broke, in process of fixing. I've replaced the passenger front u joint (4x4), clear coat is coming off all over. And now this.....

But I still like the truck. Dad was original owner and I got it from him at 85k miles.

When you get a chance, add all the info about your truck to your sig. It helps a lot.

Alrighty, cleaned tb, took out sensor and cleaned it too. It was covered on junk. I think this air filter box sux at sealing. Gonna replace with 14x3.

Cleaned it, and it would run if I kept it over 1k rpm. Replaced sensor and it now starts and runs like a champ. Iac sensor is the I replaced.

Looked for pooling of oil and nothin. Everything has a light coat, but no pooling. Also around pcv valve is covered in oil. Think ill replace it this weekend along with oil and tranny fluid.

Thanks again for all the help guys. You are amazing!

Dead battery was unrelated. I've had the glove box off for a few days while I'm epoxying a couple of the little pieces..... Duh, there is a bulb in there, drained battery after a week.

Is the pcv valve on the drivers side, with the hose running to airbox?
