Yup, timing is pretty much set in stone. Only thing you can change is the timing chain (they make ones of course that can retard or advance timing) and the computer program that controls fuel/timing (tuner).

This is the 01 FSM I used it for my 96 until I found the actual 96 FSM
When I try to go to the 2nd gen service manual link it says i dont have permission. I just registered my account... Any help?

What he said. I have been using the 2001 manual for a tremendous amount of work on my 99 form trans to engine to body, and found nothing that was not correct for my truck. Same with parts manual. Dealer keeps asking how I know part numbers. They look up by year and VIN anyway to make sure, and it has always been correct.
