Default Trans. Service?

Well, my trans. has been leaking and it's gotten worse.
So it's going to be time to take it to the shop to have the seal between the trans. and the t-case replaced.

So, I am thinking I might as well have some other trans. maintenance done.

So far I have:
Drain and refill t-case (obviously)
Drain, change filter, adjust bands on trans.
Replace/clean trans. cooler check valve (I know, I know)

Anything else?

Also, how much ATF will I need?
I am going to see if I can bring my own fluid, that way I KNOW I have the right stuff in there.

Thanks for any input.

trans fluid and filter change on my 01 takes 6-7 quarts, including extra cooler and filter.
t-case takes 1 quart.

i would remove the check valve or drill it out.

So basically an "Initial Fill", would be a trans. service?
So I am looking at 5 quarts total?

What will happen when I take the check valve out?
I know trans. fluid will come out the cooler line, but do I have to do anything special? Or can I just drill it out like you said?

Does it increase fluid flow any? I know if it's clogged it will.

Thanks guys!

You need to remove the hose completely to drill out. So you need the line disconnect tool.

The tool is like 5 bucks and it shouldn't take more than a half hour.
