Default Rear Drum Brake install problem

So I ripped off both my drums tonight and started on working replacing my drums, shoes, and springs. So i got both drums off then started on the passenger side. Noticed that a spring was broken that wasn't in my kit. Looked in my service manual and they called it a STRUT SPRING.

(10) Engage parking brake strut In- secondary
brakeshoe and install oval shaped spring on opposite
end of strut (spring end of strut goes In primary
shoe).

Well wasnt in the kit and autozone and local shops are stumped. Heres pics:

Only one loop of the spring broke off.

My main question is: Is this safe to install as is? Do i need to find new ones, and if so where?

Quick response would be super appreciative. Thanks DF Guys!

Rock auto has them listed under 2500, the Carlson kit has them in it. Other than that, dealer or JY.

Just wanted to let you know zman that you are awesome! I went to three places with the spring they all were stumped. Went back to the closest one and told them to get the 2500 spring kit and the two springs i needed were there!! VIOLA! Sucks i had to pay 7$ to get the two springs just to toss all the other springs but oh well. Heres a pic of the finished product and it brakes like a dream!

Nice job, and glad I could help.

Oh and btw, since I have a 2500, instead of tossing the rest of the kit, send it to me . LOL JK

Honestly I would if it wasn't more for the shipping then the whole kit. You wanna pay for shipping its yours.

Why not keep them? You never know when you might need a spring for something.

Not one of the springs in the kit match the 1500 kit except the two that came with the 2500 kit and didnt in the 1500. All the rest will sit around my pile of auto stuff until i throw them away 3 years later or someone asks me for them :P

Not to mention, they changed the configuration a few times on 1500 and 2500.
