Default 46re shudder

..mm ok im still trying to figure out why my tranny shudders, so since its been like 7 months since i last asked here ima try it again.

Basicly the 46re on my 5.9 has 124k on it, when it shifts from 3rd gear to OD (4th) it will shudder or thud and i can feal it through the steering wheel and hear it when it shakes the rear window. After the shift tho its smooth as butter driving in OD... no noises nothing. The torque converter locks 5-10mph after and when it locks it locks extremely smooth.. The TC unlock when i let off the gas completetly as it should, and if i press the brakes while on the gas... as it should.

The TC seems to be fine as it locks and unlocks without a peep and drives without a peep.. Its just the 1 shift from 3rd to OD that shudders.. It will do it when it downshifts from OD to 3rd also.. It wont be there if im light on the gas during the shifts.. itll just be smooth with no idication it was there.. Normal acceleration tho its there when it shifts.. As i said only during the split second shift. not while in the gear...

One guy said its my torque converter going bad, i dont see how tho as the TC seems to be fine... He didnt explain the relation to OD and the TC during shifting.. so i dont believe what he said.. Its been doing this for the 7k miles i'ved owned it and hasnt gotten worse. There was one day tho where it just magicly stopped i dunno what caused that.... Oh and it hasnt slipped or had delay in shifting.

Im thinking maybe tranny mount since the OD unit is literally under the mount ?? Altho i dunno how to check the transmission mount if its good or bad..

Have you had the pan off yet? Wonder if the snap ring in the O/D unit did it's usual trick, and broke apart, and is laying in the bottom of the pan......

Yes i have, pan inside had the normal gunk on the magnet, and some small slivers in the pan but nothing abnormal. Filter looked ok too, i changed it and bolted it back up. Its been a year almost since i did that, i've been thinking of dropping it again to peek, but i doubt anything is in there as it did it prior

Maybe this can help. "Delayed" could cause a shudder.

DELAYED 3-4 UPSHIFT
(SLOW TO ENGAGE)
1. Fluid Level Low. 1. Add fluid and check for leaks.
2. Throttle Valve Cable Mis-adjusted. 2. Adjust throttle valve cable.
3. Overdrive Clutch Pack Worn/
Burnt.
3. Remove unit and rebuild clutch pack.
4. TPS Faulty. 4. Test with DRBT scan tool and replace as
necessary
5. Overdrive Clutch Bleed Orifice
Plugged.
5. Disassemble transmission and replace
orifice.
6. Overdrive Solenoid or Wiring
Shorted/Open.
6. Test solenoid and check wiring for
loose/corroded connections or shorts/
grounds. Replace solenoid if faulty and
repair wiring if necessary.
7. Overdrive Excess Clearance. 7. Remove unit. Measure end play and
select proper spacer.
8. O/D Check Valve Missing or
Stuck.
8. Check for presence of check valve.
Repair or replace as required.

Never mind. http://tinyurl.com/3sejkqf Maybe that will help. Or a search in the FAQ section. LOL

Front pump seal. Since you will be RIGHT there...... Might wanna have a look at the rear freeze plugs on the engine as well.
