I changed to a full synthetic 5w30 and a K&N filter with 14 gpm flow rate incredible difference clean your oil system with sea foam before switch. You'll like the results.

Whats the best type to use? It has 250,000KM's (150,000 miles I think), and how much oil does it take? I was thinking Quakerstate high milage 10w30...Please advise if theres something better to use.

Thanks!

EDIT: also, it gets damn cold here in the winter, are there better oils to use in summer/winter?

2002 2500 5.9 Z ....right from the manual

And if you have the cross member right there, take the oil filter out of the box and fold the box to guide the oil into your drain pan.
That's a dam good idea with the box man that would have saved me a lot of rags and sweep

I use Castrol GTX 10w-30 with an STP-s16 filter. It seems that the castrol doesn't burn as much with a plenum gasket issue as other brands do. I highly recommend it.
