So my transfer case is leaking where the t-case meets the trans. I assume there is a seal here that has gone bad? I've never messed much with a transfer case before, and never changed one of these seals. I'm pretty mechanically inclined and can fix most things myself. Just curious as to what exactly needs to be done to fix this? Any tips or advice? Any input is appreciated.

Not sure if there is a seal, or a gasket there, or if it's just RTV..... Gonna have to drop the t-case to see...... not too bad of a job, helps to have a friend give you a hand getting it down/putting it back up....

But, there may or may not be an electrical connector on it, (i don't think there is on yours), vacuum lines for the front axle actuator, shifter linkage, and both driveshafts need to come out of the way. Then, its just six bolts to drop it out.

There is no gasket or anything. However, there is 2 seals. One on back of tranny and one on front of the transfer case. See FAQ section for seal replacement DIY.

You can do it by yourself. You only need a hand if you're a little guy.

 

But it helps to use both.

 

First i can't believe i missed this in the FAQ. Looks like a good bit of work, but very doable. Getting someone to give me a hand isn't an issue should it be needed. Thanks for the input guys.
