Default 96 Ram- windows/locks only work when doors open?

ok, so I am a bit confused. I have been working on my electric windows and locks and am having an isue. They only work when the doors are open and the door jam switches are NOT depressed????

if I manually depress the door jam switches, then the windows and locks will not work properly. They work fine when they are not depressed????

any suggestion? I am going to order two new ones and replace them, but have no idea why they would work only when not depressed/ closed????

RUMBLON

any suggestions?

Dave

Have you checked the wires inside the rubber boot, that go from the jamb to the door?

NEVERMIND--I got it. Found that a speaker which was connected to the wiring harness had a broken tab and this was messing with the wiring. I unplugged the piece of the harness from the speaker to the harness and all is good. Unplugged the speaker and replaced the harness piece and its was still good. the speaker was friend and not working, so there ya have it.
also, yes I pulled the harness on the door and DID FIND a broken wire that helped with the door locks, but the other was the stereo speaker.
I HATE WIRING. but am happy its fixed.
Thanks

OK, WRONG, I thought I had it fixed, but if the doors are closed or the door open/closed sensors with the buzers are depressed, then nothing works. UGHHHHHHHH!!!!

So for now I disconnected the ends, pushed them through the panels and affixed the senseors back on the ends and they will work.

But what the heck would cause that????

Damn, I forgot about those. You are talking about the door jamb switches for like the dome lite correct? Replace both of them.

hey zman, you mean replace both the plug end portions that plug into the harnes. this is the part that goes through the door jam and when the doors close it depresses them? Like a push button? I took them out and placed them inside the cab so they dont depress and everything works. So you think replacing the ends will solve that I can use them again?

Yea, I'd try it. They are cheap.

If they are inside the cab won't the dome lights always stay on? Btw I have noticed that if the key is in the ignition my door locks don't work with the door open.
