Default control arm differnces

ive noticed that our gen dodges used a varity of control arm set ups, but the thing im most curious of is...whats the differce in and A-Arm set up(where the control ams mount to the frame in an uper and lower spot and then combine into a single mount to the lower contol arm mount at the frame) and the dual(and completly seperate) control arm set up? ive been wondering this for a whaile because ive seen several with the dual arms but ive never seen one with the a-arms like mine

A arms are used on the 2 wheel drive fellers, the setup on the 4x4's is actually considered a four link suspension. (technically 5, with the track bar, but, sometimes those count, sometimes they don't.) You will only see A-arms on independent front suspension vehicles, including 4x4s.

Some of the lift kits combine the upper and lower control arms on our trucks into a single unit, that does the same job. I am sure there is a key-word/tricky phrase to describe it, but, I simply can't remember at the moment.

I was in the middle of posting a reply a few minutes ago, suggesting you take a pic of this setup. But, I told Merc I'd stay out of the lift threads. LOL

Those are still considered control arms. A-Arms have two mount points on the frame... generally.....

I have seen that design before, generally, they come with long arm kits. Wonder if those were custom fabbed?
