Default WTF! odometer went crazy

So i was trying to replace the ac compressor and after a failed attempt due to the junk yard one I bought had a different connector on it which i realized after hooking everything up. So i took it off put the old one back on and called it a day. Hooked the battery back up and jumped in the truck. When I started the truck it went from 141k to 200k wtf! does this mean someone did something to the odometer and rolled it back some howe or is the truck being a bitch any idea whats going on? ??????? I'm lost rite now.

The PCM may have been replaced with one with a higher mileage truck, and they had it re-programed, AFAIK that is the only way to roll back a digital odometer. If this was just bought I would be going to the PO and raise some hell until the truth come out.

Does the PCM store the mileage? Or the cluster?

I always thought it was the cluster. It was something you had to live with if you ever swapped clusters with another junk yard one, IIRC.

It depends. Does your truck have power seats?

The following day when I got in the truck the milage was back on 141k where it should be. I did have pep boys tell me the PCM was bad and needed to be replaced a few weeks back but I dont exactly trust pep boys they blow. I need to go to the auto parts store like advanced or auto zone and have them pull the codes. Pep boys said they couldnt pull the codes cuz my pcm was bad.

where is the PCM located in the ram? is it under the drivers seat? If this is indeed bad I could pull one from a junk yard and have it programmed rite?

It's on the firewall on the passenger side.
