I think you have the 46re, the 47re only came in cummins. I am sure someone will come along and confirm or set it right shortly.

And I would think it would say if its 46 re or so on the stamp. correct? not sure thats why getting help.. Thanks will wait to see who come up with the million dollar answer.

If you are still lost by tomorrow you should be able to call any Chrysler dealer and give them the numbers and they should be able to help you. I don't know how to decode the numbers and google was no help for me. I came up with that by searching for trans in a 2500.

All 8 cylinder gas engines got the 46RE. 47-48RE won't even bolt up to them.

Well those numbers are stamped on the id plate for tranny right above oil pan, left side. the 0 6 4- 9 is stamped on bell housing( BIG NUMBERS ). I seen a message on anothe r board who had same bell housing numbers, and ASE certified mechanic said that his tranny was the 904 or 727 for chrysler. I'l see if I can find the reply from that site. thanks fo any help. still searching.

A 46RE, which what is normally behind your engine and what your picture looks very much like, is not much more than a 727 with an overdrive (4th) gear added on.
