Question 2000 ram 1500 leaking rear slider

Hey guys new here and to dodge this is my first dodge truck 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4 sport reg cab short bed anyway after all the fords I had issues with I bought a dodge.Anyway I see inside my truck since its raining here with hurricane irene coming I have a good size leak inside over my rear slider its leaking behind the passenger seat in the upper left corner where the slider glass would end if it was pushed open all the wayI dont see any holes in the rubber gasket at all.it starts as a drip then runs down and drips into the tray being the seat..I put a tarp over the roof for now to keep the rain out.what do you think is causing it to leak anyway?will I need a new window or just a new seal?any info will help thanks.

It is could be coming in from the third brake light. It's a common place for leaks.

I took a look at my 3rd brake light cover it has about a quarter inch space on the under side of it bent out from the truck for some odd reason.I called the dealer and they dont sell just the plastic cover i have to buy the whole cover with the wires and everything for $175 bucks wow.ill see if i can bend it back somehow, hopefully that will solve my leak issue.thanks 4 the info.

You can get aftermarket replacements you know. Plus I have one off my 98 if you want to buy it. Any chance you asked the dealer if you could get a new gasket only ?

That works great when it's not bent/broken like the OP said.

I couldnt get the cover off for some reason so I sealed it with silicone for now.It it still leaks after the next rain then I think I will have to buy the whole cover with the lights and wires it was pretty messed up screws were rusted bad to that hold the cover in.no i didnt ask the dealer if i could get a new gasket but guessing from his answer yesterday the answer would still but I have to buy the whole set up.if it leaks again I will ask.

Dealer : "I'm sorry, we don't sell this logical component, you need to replace the truck instead".

(Shaking fist!)
