Default NP231 J transfercase on my RAM?

Hello

Can I use a NP231J (Jeep) transfercase on my dodge?
I have a NP231 now.

Any chance you could tell us at least what year your truck is. And what year the 231 from the Jeep is? Add ALL the info about your truck to your sig. Anyway. I don't think it will work regardless. The shift patterns are different.

no it woudnt, no matter what model you use. the casings for all np231 are the same but the internals in a j model are about half the size of the internal on a d or hd model. i actually used a j model case when i built my t-case but i used internals from a d and an hd but the only thing from the jmodel were the front and rear case halfs

When I drive my shifter rattles a lot. Can it be adjusted?
Sometimes when driving in 4H and 4L it feels like it jumps out of gear and then i get the metall sound..
Maybe i can adjust it?

Have you tried looking at this? Could be the front axle not engaging. http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/repair/..._engagment.htm

Check the snap ring on the rear output shaft, make sure it is still there. (gotta pull the rear driveshaft, and tailshaft housing.)

There are various bushings and such in the shift linkage, have a look, see if any of them are sloppy. Also check motor/trans mounts.

Thanks.

The 4wd works great but sometimes it´s like two gears touching eachother and makes a terrific noice (Or jumping out of gear, gets panic all the time when it happens so i brakes and turns off the engine)

The snap ring is still there. (I have changed all the gaskets)

Could be the TC, but sounds to me like a vacuum problem.
